Today I have done Activity Arts and Entertainment. I had a choice to do my Pepeha or a fact file about The New Zealand Singer Lorde. I enjoyed this activity because Lorde is my favorite singer

Action World
My class (Te Maunga) walked to Action world and my favorite activity was the inflatable climbing wall. When we got to action world the girls had to get changed and go on the water slide. I’m scared of water slides but its was fun after I had two turns we had to get changes and play. The first thing I went to was the inflatable climbing wall I got to the top twice but didn’t reach the bell I had so much fun and hope we go again sometime well not this year since this year is basically over.

Reading
My class Te Maunga has been learning about recycling
When you recycle you put something that's recyclable in the recycling bin and then the rubbish truck will take it somewhere and put it in a landfill or sending it to China to get made into something new.
Refuse is when you put it in the right bin so For example if you wanted to throw away a banana peel you would put it in food scraps, if you had paper it would go in the recycle and if you had a used tissue it would go in the rubbish.
Reusing is when you have a zip lock bag and then you use it you can keep the zip lock bag and clean it then use it over and over again.
If you had zip lock bags but you didn’t want to clean then reuse them you could stop buying them and reduce the amount of plastic you use.

Animation
My class Te Maunga has been learning about plants, like how they grow, what they need to grow and other stuff like that. One of the things I learnt plants need sun, water and the right climate it you tried grow a sunflower in the north pole it would not grow. A create task we did in our study was to make an animation so that is what this blog post is about.

Electricity
Today we did a makerspace about electricity. I missed half of it but when I was there for the lemon light, brainbox and something where you rub a comb on your head then put it over salt and pepper to see what happens to rub it on your head again then put it near water getting closer and closer to see what will happen. When we did lemon light I came halfway through but we put a N.Z ten cent coin on one side of a lemon, then on the other side we put a tiny nail thing and small clip thing that looked like crocodiles. When we did that with four lemons we put a tiny tint light bulb and if it lit up we did it right. We went to the next activity and we had to make fan spin while a light bulb was on and we did it. The last one we did didn’t work on any of us since the boys wet the comb entirely and rewind it because they weren’t meant to be that wet.

Plants
On Friday we had a Masterchef junior day. A few terms ago on Matariki we planted silverbeet, parsley, carrot and celery in our garden. We gave the plants water and sunlight with the minerals they needed to survive. They started as sprouts and grew into proper plants. On the day we had to get in groups of four or five then make and plan our dish. In my group was me, Amelia, Anika and Jacob. We made carrot and lemon pikelets we grated carrot and squeezed the lemon and grated lemon rind. I cooked and flipped them in the electric frying pan. When it came to the end we decorated it in fried banana and maple syrup. The teachers came to every table and took photos and let us say some things about our dish. When they went to every table they said everybody sit on the mat, and she gave chocolates to a few winners. We won a prize for thinking out of the box and not making it too healthy but the most delicious. Everyone got a lollie if they did not get a chocolate.

Geometry
My class has been about geometry. I made a DLO (or a digital learning object) about geometry. It’s filled with the things I learnt from the activities we have been doing around geometry. I hope you enjoy.
